The Wife’s Story of Buying Property in France
Approximately 4 years ago my husband, Mark, discovered a new programme on Channel 4 called “A Place in the Sun”. Every evening at about 5pm he would sit in front of the television and start dreaming up a new future for us all.
Now don’t get me wrong, I see nothing wrong in dreaming, but with 3 daughters aged 2, 8 and 10 years at the time the thought of upping roots and starting again in a foreign country just seemed quite scary.
We visited a few exhibitions about restarting in France, and read several books about the ins and outs of the education system amongst other things, but agreed that we would start off by maybe buying to let, and then see how things go in the future.
