Inital thoughts
Back to the kitchen scene. There was the lovely Amanda Lamb doing a tour of beautifully constructed French stone built properties in Brittany, I forget the department.
Properties with pool’s, property with land and some with pools and land, some also with gites providing an income, and all for under £150,000!! I called over my wife and we both sat amazed at the Varity, quality and value.
Amanda moved on and looked at a further property needing renovation. The property needing some work on the interior décor and roof looked a snip at £50,000 and unbelievable in comparison to UK prices. She estimated the renovation costs at being £30,000 if outsourced and less if the couple did some of the work themselves. The property had it all and only needing a little time, money and effort to reap the rewards.
The program finished, I finished off, kissed the wife and left for work. Having plenty of time for contemplation during my commute I continued to think of the opportunities for those brave enough to buy a property in a foreign land. We could also own our dream property, why not? It also created a chance to get away from the rat race, an opportunity for change, a new way, a new life.
Over the next few weeks buoyed with enthusiasm I gathered all the information required to persuade my partner, to up sticks and leave for a better life in France.
